Emergence comprises of two paintings which form an installation from a displacement of painting, sculpture, photography and print. Through acts of precision and intuition, the paintings shifts in shadow and coarse surfaces to iridescent transparencies in multiple layers of erasion and over-painting. Refracting light from natural sources, it forms dialogues with surface space and reflective glass, with a slight sense of trickery. The work takes reference to light, volume and architectural depiction, although the work continues to fight against any reduction in complexity in its use of abstraction.
